Consolidated Aircraft Supply is looking for Mechanical Generators Bench Technicians to join our team. This position will be based out of our Ronkonkoma, NY office and is responsible for disassembling, inspecting, repairing, and reassembling individual components of mechanical generators on a workbench, including troubleshooting mechanical issues, replacing worn parts, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring the generator functions properly according to specifications, all while adhering to safety regulations and quality standards.

Responsibilities: 

Disassembly and Inspection:Carefully dismantling generators to access individual components, thoroughly inspecting parts for wear, damage, or defects, and identifying areas requiring repair.

Troubleshooting:Diagnosing mechanical issues within the generator using diagnostic tools and technical knowledge, identifying root causes of malfunctions like bearing failures, worn gears, or faulty seals.

Component Repair:Replacing worn or damaged components like bearings, seals, brushes, and gaskets, performing necessary repairs such as aligning shafts, cleaning and lubricating parts, and adjusting tension on belts.

Reassembly and Testing:Carefully reassembling the generator following proper procedures, performing functional tests to ensure proper operation, and checking for leaks or vibrations.

Preventative Maintenance:Performing routine maintenance tasks like cleaning, lubrication, and adjustments to prevent future issues and optimize generator performance.

Documentation:Maintaining detailed records of repairs, parts used, and test results to track generator history and compliance.

Quality Control:Adhering to established quality standards and procedures to ensure repaired generators meet performance specifications.

Safety Compliance:Following all safety protocols and procedures when handling heavy components, working with electrical systems, and using power tools.

Required Skills:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a thorough understanding of generator components and their functions
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Proficiency with hand tools and specialized equipment used for generator repair
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure

Requirements:

  • High school diploma, GED, College degree in Electronics and/or Mechanical preferred
  • Have tools
  • Ability to build strong relationships with the customer and display excellent communication skills
  • Ability to manage your workflow in a timely and consistent manner
  • Problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
